Sergeant Manasco is leaving the Marines and is ready to return to civilian life.
"[I'll] spend time with family, and visit. Go see the sights, go see Chicago," he told ABC7 Chicago.
"I am so proud. I'm so proud of all the soldiers that defend our country. I'm so glad that he's home and safe," said a tearful Brenda Thompson, Manasco's mother.
"This is amazing for me because this time he's not leaving. He's going be here for good," said Jennifer Manasco, the sergeant's wife.
Patriot Guard members and others hugged Sergeant Manasco Saturday and thanked him for his service to the nation.
