Festive Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies

1/2 cup shortening
1 3/4 cup sifted flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
18 regular marshmallows (About) cut in halves
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semisweet chocolate chips
2 tblsp butter
multi-colored decorated sprinkles(the kind that has red, green, yellow, blue)

Directions
Beat shortening until light; add brown sugar and beat until fluffy. Beat in egg to blend.
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt and cocoa. Beat flour mixture alternately with milk into creamed mixture. Beat smooth. Stir in walnuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake in moderate oven-350 degrees- 12 to 15 minutes, or until tops are a bit glossy.
Remove from oven and top with marshmallow halves. Put back into oven just until set on cookie (1 to 2 minutes) Remove from oven and set pan on rack until cookies are cool enough to handle.You do not want to over bake or leave in oven too long after placing the marshmallow on top.
