On Friday, the Jewish United Fund held a rally to show its support for Israel. Those gathered at Federal Plaza supported Israel's right to defend itself from terror.

"It is encomprehensible 60 years after the birth of the modern state of Israel we are still defending israel's right to exist in the court of world opinion and on the streets of Chicago," said Steven Nasatir, president, Jewish United Fund.

"If the Israelis put down their weapons, they'll all be masacred. If the Palestinians put down their weapons, there would be peace tomorrow," said Ken Pearlman who attended the protest.

Israel launched its air bombardment on December 27 in response to intensified rocket fire that has disrupted life in southern Israel. Last Saturday, ground troops moved in.
