Fire ravages Wrigleyville building

Februay 27, 2009 (CHICAGO) The fire broke out just after 7 a.m. in a three-story building on North Halsted Street. Officials say the fire started on the second floor and quickly spread. Apartments were located on the second and third floors. The first floor was occupied by "Scarlett" bar.

No one was hurt. One couple woke up to smoke pouring into their apartment.

"We didn't know which way to go. There were flames coming from the back side but black smoke from the front. So, we just went out the back door. There was ice all over the stairs, and we slid all the way down pretty much," said resident Vicki Kocher.

Firefighters evacuated several neighboring buildings as a precaution. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
