March 12, 2009 --
Four people were arrested in a raid by Cook County sheriff's police narcotics officers overnight. Officials say they found $1 million dollars worth of so-called designer marijuana. The operation was described as sophisticated and large scale. More than 500 plants were found growing inside a garage. Investigators say the operation featured some of the plants were genetically altered to produce a consistently high level of potency as well as a higher level of profit for the growers.
Charges are pending.
