Jury deliberations began Thursday morning in the corruption trial of former Chicago Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Al Sanchez. Sanchez is accused of trading city jobs and promotions in exchange for political work.

Prosecutors told jurors that the motive for Sanchez was to pay off private political workers with public city jobs.

The defense countered that Sanchez spent a career trying to help minorities because he faced discrimination as a young Mexican American.
