The South Side Irish St. Patrick's Day parade could have a new home in the suburbsThe mayor of Evergreen Park sent an e-mail to residents Thursday asking if they would be interested in taking over the parade.

The parade's organizers announced recently they would end it in Chicago because the parade had grown too big for the South Side Beverly and Morgan Park communities. More than 300,000 people attended the parade on March 15, 2009.

Evergreen Park Mayor James Sexton says he would need overwhelming public support before he decides to take over the event.

If Evergreen Park stages the parade, it would march down 95th Street between Pulaski and Francisco.
