Elderly man killed in crash, driver charged

A Chicago man has been charged with DUI and reckless homicide after a crash that killed a 78-year-old man.It happened early Saturday in the 4000 block of East 106th Street.

Chicago police say Zivojin Mitrovich was pushing a shopping cart when a pick-up struck him.

Sunday, prosecutors charged 25-year-old Kevin Rodriguez with a number of charges, including reckless homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without insurance.

The victim's granddaughter had this to say to the suspect:

"I would tell him that he changed our family. He hurt our family. And I hope they keep him in jail so he can learn his lesson," Dragana Mitrovich said.

Rodriguez was expected to appear in bond court Monday.
