The drug Tamiflu has received a lot of attention for everything from being a treatment for the bird flu to being linked with psychiatric problems. But a review of a large U.S. medical claims database finds no evidence of an increased incidence of abnormal behavior or psychiatric problems. However, the report in the International Journal of Clinical Practice found, in people 17 or younger, the rate of "episodic mood disorders" was higher in those who took Tamiflu than those who did not.

In recent years there have been case reports of psychiatric events generally occurring within 48 hours of the start of treatment especially among children younger than 16.
