City honors 911 workers

Chicago honored the men and women who take 911 calls and send help to those in need.Raymond Orozco, the executive director of the Office of Emergency Management and Communication, presented the awards.

Nearly 50 employees were recognized for their work. During the ceremony, 22 call takers were promoted to dispatchers and 10 people were promoted to supervisors.

One group received the team performance award for their response to the deadly crash last year when a truck slammed into the Cermak Red Line station.
