Chicago Park District increases camp fees

The Chicago Park District is boosting the fees for summer camp and other activities to make up for a projected $15 million budget shortfall.The chief financial offer told the park board a bigger than expected drop in revenue from the state's corporate income tax put the 2009 park district budget in the red.

Expect hikes in just about every fee the park district collects from fitness center memberships to playing field rental fees.

The cost of attending summer camp will jump by $60, bringing the average cost to just under $250.
