Delta to charge for bags on int'l flights

April 21, 2009 Delta says it will cost $50 for most passengers to check a second bag on flights overseas. That's a first among major U.S. carriers.

Elite frequent fliers and active members of the military are exempt.

The first checked bag on international flights remains free. The airline already charges for checked bags on domestic flights.

The new international fee will be effective for travel beginning July 1.
