Authorities say 19-year-old Orlin Ortiz killed 28-year-old Maribel Alvarez. She was found dead inside the home the couple shared on West Thomas Street.
Police say Ortiz may still be in Chicago trying to raise money for a trip back to his native Honduras.
The FBI says he is considered armed and dangerous.
