Chicago celebrates Olympic Week

May 4, 2009 (CHICAGO) The observance is taking on special importance in Chicago as the city bids for the 2016 Games.

At Mayo Elementary School on the city's South Side the school choir sang during opening ceremonies. Olympic bronze medalist Dwight Stones was the master of ceremonies. Paralympian April Holmes also made an appearance.

Students participated in a parade of nations.

Classroom lessons this week will focus on Olympic values and ideals.
