Patients with the most aggressive form of brain cancer now have a new option. The US Food and Drug Administration has given accelerated approval for the drug Avastin.

This comes after a US advisory panel said in early March that early data showed Avastin showed promise for patients with glioblastoma, an aggressive tumor.

Avastin is already used to treat lung, colon and breast cancers.
