Police called to hospital ER

May 11, 2009 (CHICAGO) Tensions apparently boiled over after some patients had to wait several hours to see a doctor. They tell ABC7 the delay started Sunday afternoon.

A hospital spokesperson says some patients starting cursing at nurses which caused security to call Chicago police. The spokesperson says the hospital was busy and on bypass, meaning ambulances were directed away.

A nursing supervisor says the diversion was due to staff shortages and a lack of beds.
