Chicago cops to be evaluated on attitudes

Chicago police officers will soon be evaluated, not just on how they do their jobs, but on their attitudes and how they deal with people.Department officials hope the evaluations, which they plan to start next year, will get officers to maintain professionalism.

The police brass got rid of its evaluation rating system six years ago after complaints that it was too inconsistent.

The head of the Fraternal Order of Police says the union objects to the evaluation system because it should be subject to collective bargaining.
