Chicago Police Marine Unit officers say they arrested a robber seconds after he held up a 7-11 store in the Loop. Sergeant Robert Fitzsimmons and Officer Raul Echevarria normally work on the water. But as they were heading into the convenience store Friday morning to get a cup of coffee the suspect ran out. They quickly arrested 32-year-old Elgee Burdine.

Officers say he held up a store clerk with a shotgun, which he tucked into a bag along with the cash from the robbery.

"It kinda went down real quick. I think he was probably more surprised than we were that we were there. I think when he walked out of the 7-11 after the robbery he didn't expect to see a police SUV right in front," said Fitzsimmons.

The clerk was not injured.

Burdine is charged with armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon.
