Police said they were called to the home by DCFS on May 20 after the boy was taken to a Barrington hospital. The child was taken by helicopter to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he remains in critical condition.
Legeai originally told police he accidentally bumped the child's head, but then changed his story and, according to police, admitted to hitting him hard intentionally when the child wouldn't stop crying.
Legeai is being held on $250,000 bond.
