Chicagoan tapped as British ambassador

A retired Chicago investment banker is headed to Britain as the next U.S. ambassador to that country.President Barack Obama selected Louis Susman as one several top diplomats Wednesday.

Susman is a vice chairman of Citigroup corporate and investment banking. He is a top Democratic fundraiser.

According to the Times of London, he raised at least $500,000 for Obama's campaign and inauguration funds. He needs to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
