The Cook County Board once again failed to override Board President Todd Stroger's latest veto of the sales tax rollback.A four-fifths majority is needed to override a veto.

If the commissioners had succeeded the county's portion of the sales tax would have dropped by one percent over the next two years.

Stroger has proposed a smaller tax cut, but he warns a big rollback of the tax could trigger drastic cuts to public safety and the healthcare system.
