Chicago police shot and critically wounded a drug suspect on the city's West Side after he allegedly hit three officers with his car. It happened Tuesday night near West Madison and Western. Narcotics officers were attempting to arrest the suspect when he tried to drive away.

Police say he ended up striking the three officers. That prompted police to open fire, striking the driver. He's now in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.

"It was quite a few shots back to back. The police was the only one doing the shooting. The people in the car was not armed or anything," said Sonia Richardson, witness.

The three officers were all in good condition Wednesday morning.

The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the shooting.
