Donna Hogue was found stabbed to death in her home in Gary.
Indiana State Police Lab examined samples collected from the crime scene and DNA samples taken from Campbell. On June 1, the results of a comparison of the samples were received and a match was found.
Campbell lived in the neighborhood of Donna Hogue in 1992 with his wife and children.
"The charges filed in this case are a credit to our detectives but also the dedication and training of our Crime Lab technicians", Chief Kuyachich said. "The maximum sentence is sixty years".
