Young basketball star suffers injury

June 5, 2009 Bolingbrook High School forward Morgan Tuck became the first freshman to be selected as Illinois' Ms. Basketball last month, and on Sunday she made the USA Under-16 Women's Basketball Team.

But last Saturday she injured her knee when she came down from blocking a shot during tryouts for the USA team.

A MRI confirms she tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left leg. Last night, Tuck returned home to Chicago where her family is helping to keep her spirits up.

"She seemed to be making progress everyday until we got the report from the MRI, and so from that point we've been trying to keep her encouraged and lifted up," Morgan's mother Lydia Tuck said.

"Just see what the doctors say and just try to get back healthy so I can play again," Morgan said.

It may take Morgan six to 12 months to recover from her injury.
