A military museum in west suburban Wheaton marked D-Day Saturday by dedicating a rare World War II landing craft.A crowd estimated at 2,000 applauded veterans of the war at the McCormick Foundation's Cantigny Park. Approximately, 150 honorees attended the observance.

A highlight was dedicating a 1943 landing craft, like those used on D-Day. Of the 23,000 that were made, fewer than a dozen remain.

The craft will be displayed in the park.
