June 7, 2009: Two legislative leaders

June 8, 2009 9:09:40 AM PDT
This week's guests are Chicago State Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie, the House Democratic majority leader, and Republican State Sen. Carole Pankau of west suburban Bloomingdale, the Senate minority caucus whip. They will discuss the state's $11.6 billion dollar budget deficit, the failure of the legislature to agree on a balanced budget, the prospects of doing so before the new state fiscal year begins July 1, whether the Republicans will agree to a tax hike, whether a hike should be permanent or just for one or two years, whether voters will and should blame the majority Democrats for the impasse, etc.
