$16K donated to robbed delivery man

June 9, 2009 (EVANSTON, Ill.) Steve Walker received checks totaling $16,000, including $3,500 from the pizza chain he works for.

He says he was assaulted in a courtyard by two men just after making a delivery. He was hurt when he tried to stop them from stealing his car which ended up totaled.

Two men have been arrested and charged with robbery and vehicular hijacking.

Omar Gutierrez witnessed the incident, called police, and then started a Web site to collect money for Walker who is amazed by the response.

"I was like this isn't for real but it is and I thought back over the couple of days how much people have helped me and how much it has come real so thank you all," said Stephen Walker, pizza delivery driver.

Gutierrez says the donations have come from as far away as India and Germany.
