Quinn encourages students to read at graduation

Gov. Pat Quinn encouraged students to read and to serve others during a speech today at a South Side school.Nearly 40 eighth graders graduated Tuesday from Crispus Attucks Elementary on South State.

Quinn urged the students to have an "ethic of service" and to give back to their community. He also announced that scholastic incorporated was donating 500 books to the school. The donation is aimed at getting students to read.

The governor told students that "readers are leaders."
