Illinois State Police say two cars were involved.
The Cook County medical examiner says 63-year-old Barnese Cooper of St. Louis died from her injuries.
The fire department says the others who were injured were taken to different hospitals in serious to critical condition.
There was no word Saturday night on what caused the crash.
