A $1000 cash reward is being offered for help in solving a rash of armed robberies at auto parts stores on the city's South Side.Chicago Crimestoppers and community volunteers were out distributing fliers Saturday near 88th Street and Commercial.

Crimestoppers believes the robberies, which have taken place at numerous Auto Zone businesses, are related. In each incident, two offenders displayed handguns and made off with undisclosed amounts of cash.

"We're out here today with police support asking for help. Get them off the street," said George McDade, chairman, Cook County Crimestoppers.

An Auto Zone representative says the company has told its employees to be on heightened alert.
