"The 8,000 people volunteering today, who've come out in the pouring rain to spend their day working with the Chicago Public Schools system, is just a great testimony to Chicago," Huberman said. "All that makes a tremendous difference to the schools, to the students. So, we're very excited to have this happen today."
Huberman added that it would cost the financially-strapped school system millions of dollars if it had to pay for all the work the volunteers do.
