Walgreens to sell alcohol again

June 23, 2009 Deerfield-based Walgreens says it's applying for licenses to sell beer and wine again at its nearly 7,000 stores nationwide.

Walgreens stopped selling alcohol at all but a few of its stores back in the 1990's. The return of beer and wine sales comes as Walgreens redesigns its stores.

No date has been set for when Chicago area Walgreens will begin selling beer and wine.
