Police chief recovering from alleged beating

The police chief of Waukegan is recovering after an alleged beating by another police officer. Carl Sain is an officer in North Chicago. He is now charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault.

Sain is accused of beating Waukegan Police Chief Artis Yancey with his fists and a semi automatic handgun. He claims he found Yancey in his estranged wife's house. The couple is divorcing.

North Chicago police have placed the 45-year-old Sain on administrative leave. He remains free on bond.
