Wis. to consider new shoreline building rules

June 24, 2009 (MADISON, Wis.) The board will consider updates to Wisconsin's shoreline building regulations.

The Department of Natural Resources, the Wisconsin Association of Lakes, the Wisconsin Realtors Association and other groups have been working for years on the revisions.

Under the new plan, shoreline property owners would have to limit waterproof surfaces, limit the height of buildings and improve water quality and habitat if they want to expand a pre-existing structure.

The board is scheduled to vote on the regulations at a meeting in New Richmond.
