Vigil held to protest state budget cuts

June 29, 2009 (CHICAGO) Without a deal many social services could be cut.

On Monday night, a large group held a silent vigil outside the Thompson Center. It was one of several planned across the state.

The marchers say the cuts would hurt the most vulnerable people in Illinois.

On Monday, the Illinois House approved a plan to borrow more than $2 billion to help reduce cuts for local agencies that provide social services.
