Suspects arrested in alleged counterfeit bills scam

June 30, 2009 Robert Sims, 20, was charged with forgery and theft by deception and Craig Williams, 19, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Mundelein Police Department said they received a report of two subjects who had passed a counterfeit $100 bill at a local store. When officers located the offenders, they allegedly found additional counterfeit $100 bills on the subjects.

According to police, the counterfeit bills were actually $5 bills that had been washed and reproduced as $100 bills. Authorities also said Sims and Williams are suspects in other jurisdictions for passing counterfeit $100 bills.
