Recent soil tests near suburban Crestwood's contaminated well failed to detect toxic chemicals. The Environmental Protection Agency posted the results online. The tests were taken last month.

The EPA reports it did find high levels of a chemical linked to cancer behind a dry cleaner that is 300 feet from the well.

Since the well has been shut off. The agency determined the chemicals do not pose a health threat.

Village officials are being investigated because a report claimed that the town drew drinking water from the contaminated well for two decades and did not tell residents or regulators.

The EPA is considering more tests near the well.
