SE Side residents call for CTA 'Gold Line'

July 7, 2009 (CHICAGO) The proposed "Gold Line" would actually be a hybrid between the CTA and Metra-Electric line. It calls for station upgrades and the installation of CTA turn styles at Metra facilities.

The Tribune reports the group Southsiders Organized for Unity and Liberation says the new line would serve Hyde Park and other Southeast Side neighborhoods.

The group says would be especially important if Chicago wins the 2016 Olympic bid.
