Apparent bidding war over Cubs

July 7, 2009 (CHICAGO) A group led by former Chicagoan Marc Utay is working on a deal.

Monday, The Tribune reported that the Ricketts family was close to a deal to buy the Cubs and Wrigley Field. The Ricketts family is reportedly closer to finalizing an agreement than the Utay group.

Neither group is commenting on the negotiations.
