Local cancer survivor runs foundation to help others

July 12, 2009 (CHICAGO) The Gavers Community Cancer Foundation will be holding its 10th Barndance at Emricson Park in Woodstock (1313 Kishwaukee Valley Road). On Saturday, July 18th.

The Barndance features an evening of dancing, live music (with three bands), buffet dinner, and silent as well as live auctions. This event is organized by the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation. Tickets cost $50 each; a portion of your ticket price is tax deductible. The Event begins at 5 p.m. and goes until Midnight.

All of the proceeds from the Barndance benefit cancer awareness, education, treatment and research. In 2008 the Foundation donated $360,000 to four organizations-Family Health Partnership Clinic, Centegra Health System, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund at Rush University Medical Center.

Over the last eight years the Gavers Community Cancer Foundation has donated $2,378,000! For this special anniversary, they hope to raise and donate a record amount.

New this year, a special concert featuring Country Music singer, songwriter Pat Green will be held at the same location, on Friday July 17th, the night before the Barndance. For tickets to the Pat Green concert visit www.ticketmaster.com ($29 per ticket).
