New stamp dedicated at DuSable Museum

July 11, 2009 (CHICAGO) The 44 cent stamp honors Anna Julia Cooper.

Her work as an educator, scholar and activist spanned from shortly after the Civil War until the Civil Rights era.

She died in 1964 at the age of 105.

The stamp went on sale nationwide last month.

Saturday's dedication ceremony was part of the DuSable Museum's 35th Annual Arts & Crafts Festival.
