Burglary doesn't dampen Irish heritage festival

July 12, 2009 (CHICAGO) Police were on the scene Sunday investigating the burglary.

Someone broke in the early morning hours and took a safe out of the building that contained $8,000, but officials say most of their money had been deposited in the bank just before the burglary.

Even so it was a blow.

"For a place like this it's like robbing from the church. There's a lot of people that work long hours to renovate this building, they put their heart and soul into it and for somebody to take from you is kind of a kick in the teeth," Bob McNamara said.

The festival continued as planned Sunday.

It featured Irish and American music and dance, as well as exhibits and family activities.
