Police shoot man on Far South Side

July 16, 2009 (CHICAGO) The man is in good condition. Investigators say three guns were recovered.

It happened around midnight early Thursday near South Yale and 116th Street in the West Pullman neighborhood. Chicago police say they were investigating reports of gunfire when they spotted two armed men in a back yard.

Officials say one of the men pointed a gun at the officer, prompting the officer to fire. That man was wounded in the arm and was hospitalized in good condition. The second man managed to get away.
