IU expected to approve 4.6 percent tuition hike

July 16, 2009 (INDIANAPOLIS) IU's Board of Trustees will vote Thursday on the proposed increases of 4.6 percent this year and 4.8 percent next year at IU-Bloomington and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. That would bring tuition to about $8,600 for most in-state students, not counting fees or other expenses. IU is holding a public hearing in Indianapolis before the vote Thursday.

Ivy Tech Community College is also expected to approve a tuition increase Thursday. The fast-growing community college is proposing increases of about 4.9 percent in each of the next two years at its 23 campuses around the state.
