Shawn Gaston and Kevin Walker are being arraigned for the murder of tactical officer Alejandro Valadez, who was killed while investigating reports of gunfire near 60th and Hermitage.
Investigators say Gaston and Walker were looking for rival gang members when they opened fire on Valadez.
This is the first case Alvarez will try since taking office.
