Ex-alderman Ocasio's wife could replace him

July 17, 2009 (CHICAGO) Ocasio recently stepped down to become an aide to Gov. Pat Quinn. At first, Ocasio had recommended Minister Wilfredo DeJesus as his replacement, but that drew controversy because of remarks the minister had made about homosexuality.

The Chicago Tribune reports that DeJesus has withdrawn his name from consideration because he does not meet residency requirements.

A spokesperson for Ocasio says Mayor Daley is now considering Veronica Ocasio for the job.
