Collapsed bridge had no defects

July 24, 2009 (MERRILLVILLE, Ind.) The pedestrian bridge collapsed after a Fourth of July fireworks show in Merrillville.

An engineer has determined that the bridge did not have any structural defects. His report shows too many people were on the bridge built to hold 40 people.

Investigators believe that more than 100 people were on the suspension bridge when it collapsed.

About 25 people were hurt, with the worst injuries being broken bones.
