La Raza conference focuses on health care

July 26, 2009 (CHICAGO) La Raza is the largest Latino civil rights organization in the country.

Although Sunday's town hall debate focused on the role of prevention in health care reform, some in the audience had other concerns. They worried about the impact on small business owners and on those who often do not have health insurance.

"Hearing today about the impact healthcare reform will have on the Latino community is very, very important," said Martina Hone, who attended conference.

"Healthy employees, equal healthy businesses, and equal growth…that's really what we're looking for," small business owner Brahim Rawi said.

U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis was the featured speaker at Sunday's event. The was scheduled to continue through Tuesday.
