Quinn signs bill to create green jobs in Ill.

July 29, 2009 (CHICAGO) The governor was in Chicago on Wednesday signing a bill into law he says will create green jobs across Illinois.

The legislation is designed to boost the state's investment in clean energy like wind and biodiesel, while reducing Illinois' carbon footprint.

"We need green collar jobs and that's exactly what this bill is. it's a way for us to make investments that can create the businesses and initiatives that will create economic growth and employment across our state," said Quinn.

The law also allows Illinois to compete for matching federal stimulus loan guarantees designed for new green projects.
