Rebuilt Holy Name Cathedral opens doors

July 31, 2009 (CHICAGO) On Friday, the historic cathedral reopened its doors for confessions and weddings.

The cathedral was seriously damaged by fire five months ago.

"This is like nothing else. I walked out into the street on the morning of February 4. I was told by the fire chaplain that we were coming down. I thought we were. This should have been a pile of bricks," said the Rev. Dan Mayall said.

Father Mayall is encouraging visitors to stop by.

Michael DeFranco and Sarah Yoyo will be the first couple to wed in the cathedral since the fire. The wedding is Friday.
